I'm living this life just to live again. And with the Lord I know that I shall reign. I shall not stray, with Him I'll stay. He'll welcome His children home one day. Like a thief in the night, He shall return for me. That's the day that He'll come and fly away. You'll see. Jesus will welcome me home. Truly the Lord welcomed our beloved “Fay” home on January 24, 2021 and all of her earthly cares dissipated.
Carolyn Fay Sharpley was born to the late James Connis and Minnie Pearl Sharpley on July 9, 1950 in Hartselle, Alabama. Raised and anchored in the Christian faith, she accepted Christ at an early age and worked faithfully as an usher and program organizer at Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Danville, Alabama, famously known as “Campground”. She graduated from Morgan County Training School (Hartselle, AL) in 1969 and attended nursing school at Calhoun Community College before entering the workforce. For many years in her early twenties, she was a proud culinary assistant to the late Russell Priest at Pineview Hospital in Hartselle, AL. She continued to hone her hospitality skills, while working for the Boys Ranch in Danville, AL.
Fay relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1985 and was employed at the El Segundo Air Force base in El Segundo, California for many years. While in Los Angeles, she continued to exercise her faith at the Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Afterwards, she returned to Alabama, where she was the First Lady of Sandhill Missionary BaptistChurch in Priceville, Alabama, teaching valuable lessons to her students in Sunday and Vacation Bible School. Later, she rejoined her childhood church, Providence, and remained a faithful member until she relocated back to Los Angeles to live with her daughter (Treza Edwards) and son-in-law (Joseph Edwards) in 2004. There she had a full and productive life, being a faithful member of the Upper Room Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Benton. The family relocated to Augusta Georgia, with Fay joining in 2016. She departed this life in Augusta. She was a fighting and faithful soldier until the end, suffering with her ailments for over ten years. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13- “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Before her health began to fail, Fay was always the life of any family party with her bigger than life smile and infectious laughter. Naturally kind and altruistic, she never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off her back, if you needed it.
Preceding her in death, her loving parents, James and Minnie Sharpley of Danville, Alabama.
She leaves to cherish and carry own her memory: Daughter, Treza (Joseph) Edwards, (Augusta, GA); three Bonus Grandchildren, Joshara Edwards (Irvine, CA), Jonathan Pinson (Harbor City, CA), and Brittany White (Houston, TX); Sister, Thelma Jones (Hartselle, AL); Niece, April (Tarrell) Ezell, (Arlington, TN); and Nephew, Adam Jones (Hartselle, AL), as well as a host of great-nieces/nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
