Catherine Stewart Phillips, the mother of Dionne and Horace, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 12, 1951 to the late Thelma Stewart. Ms. Phillips transitioned peacefully on October 10, 2025 at River City Rehabilitation Center in Decatur, Alabama.
Catherine or “Cat” who she was affectionately called by her family and friends was a fun-loving person. She was very energetic and to know her was to love her. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music and taking care of kids and people in general.
Catherine is survived by: her children, Dionne Stewart and Horace Phillips both of Decatur; one daughter-in-law, Guanita Phillips; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Chales Cowart, two God children and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service with inurnment service will be held at a later date in New Orleans, LA.
