Homegoing services for Mr. Charles Wiggins Sr., 70, of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00AM Saturday at Christ Temple Holiness Church with Dr. Chinetha Baker officiating. Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. Mr. Wiggins transitioned November 19, 2022, at the Decatur Campus of Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Charles William Wiggins, Sr. “Sonny”, was born on March 29, 1952 to the late Dora Lee Foster and Coyness E. Wiggins Sr. of Nashville, TN, and the late Willie Hill, Courtland, AL.
He graduated from Central High School in 1970. He was united in marriage on November 13, 1970 to Diane McDonald and to this union seven children were born.
He worked and retired from Wolverine Tube with 32 years of service. His spiritual walk started at Jackson Chapel CME in Courtland, AL. He later had an Apostolic Experience and was baptized in Jesus’ name and joined the Apostolic Church of God under the leadership of the late Bishop Herman Finley in Decatur, AL. His ministry duties consist of a Jail Ministry and Baptism, and he was faithful in opening and closing the doors of the church. He loved talking about the Bible. In 2015, God led him and his wife to Christ Temple Holiness Church under the leadership of Dr. Chinetha Baker until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years and three children, Charles Wiggins Jr., Monica Michelle Wiggins and Kenton Mikel Wiggins, of Decatur, Alabama; a sister, Louise Sears of Decatur, AL; a brother, Coyness E. Wiggins Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee, and a nephew, Eric Wiggins of Nashville, TN.
Deacon Charles leaves to cherish his memory: four children, Tiffany Wiggins of Decatur, Paula and Kristy Wiggins of Huntsville, AL and Brandon Wiggins of Decatur; three brothers, Richard Foster of Nashville TN, George Billings (Barbara) of Chattanooga, TN and Connie Mason Sr. of Decatur; sister, Phyliss Hampton of Guntersville, AL; one sister-in-law, Sharon Johnson; two brothers-in-law, Larry (Mary) McDonald all of Decatur, Olonzo McDonald, Jr of Waldorf, MD; two uncles, Bishop Curtis Foster of Hillsboro, AL and the Rev. Samuel Foster of Athens, AL; three aunts, Mildred Fields of Chicago, IL, Edwina Watkins of Hillsboro, AL ad Marion Key of Cleveland, OH; and a plethora of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
