Graveside service for Mr. Chester L. Austin 71 of Hillsboro, Alabama will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Decatur City Cemetery with the Reverend Ronald Merriweather officiating. Public viewing will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Chester L. Austin was the fourth born of Mr. Willie James Austin and Mrs. Annie L. Austin on November 15, 1948, in Lawrence County Alabama. Chester was preceded in death by his father Willie J. Austin and sister, Emma Jean Garth.
Chester confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Canaan Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member.
He graduated from Tennessee Valley High School and was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 39 years prior to his retirement.
Chester and Linda Bowman were united in marriage on August 22, 1970 and to this union two children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Linda Austin; one son, Roderick (Jessica) Austin, Decatur AL; one daughter, Shanise (Shaft) Muhammad, Madison AL; a precious and loving mother, Mrs. Annie L. Austin, Hillsboro AL; five grandchildren, Ashley, Whitney, RJ, Victoria and Josiah; four brothers, James (Lois) Austin, Decatur AL, Otis Austin, Roy (Tracine) Austin, Darel Austin, all of Hillsboro, AL; nine sisters, Gloria (Henry) Jackson, Hillsboro, AL, Mae (Lee) Miller, Madison AL, Shirley (John) Ayers, Hillsboro, AL, Doris (Ernest) Garner, Town Creek, AL,Barbara (Jeff) Etherly, Decatur, AL, Nell (Balfour) Wright, San Antonio, TX, Ella (Bobby) Wells, Birmingham AL, Gerlene (Herman) Sharpley, Florence, AL, Renae (Eddie) Glover, Madison AL; one sister-in-law, Mildred (George) Davis, two brothers- in- law, McKinley (Damita) and Wayne Bowman, all of Hillsboro, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
