Graveside Service for Mr. Darrell Lee Allen, 59 of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00 A.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Hartselle City Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. till 5:30 P.M at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Darrell Lee Allen was born in Morgan County, Alabama on November 30, 1963 to the late Robert Lee Allen and Christine Allen. He departed his life on April 16,2023 at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Alabama.
Darrell was raised in Hartselle, Alabama where he graduated in the class of 1982 as he excelled in basketball for the Hartselle High Tigers under Coach Roger Mathis. He went on to pursue his basketball career on a collegiate level starting at Auburn University at Montgomery under coach Larry Chapman from 1982-1983. He furthered his collegiate career at Calhoun College under Coach Bob Shuttleworth from 1983-1984. At the end of his collegiate basketball career, he finished at Georgia Southwestern State University under Coach Randolph Barksdale; after which he entered the workforce.
In 1993 Darrell had a daughter, Ms. Destinee Allen, that he so affectionally loved and adored. Darrell was very proud of all of Destinee’s accomplishments and would let the world know it!
Darrell was preceded in death by his father Mr. Robert Lee Allen and his loving niece Ms. Nicole Allen.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his “baby” Ms. Destinee Allen; his loving mother, Ms. Christine Allen who was so precious to him; brother Mr. Robert Rydell Allen (Mrs. Jaye) who were inseparable throughout life; three loving sisters who he cherished and called on for everything, Ms. Sharon Ash of Decatur AL, Ms. Pamela Allen of Huntsville AL and Ms. Jerri Allen of Hartselle AL; Destinee’s brothers, Trey, Jwuan and Cody Ward who he cherished as his own; an adoptive love for Samuel Seth and all of his extended grandkids; “Uncle Darrell” loved all of his nieces and nephews and had a special relationship with all of them: Shane, Erica, Cody, Tekila, Demarcus, Jessica (Dominic) and Steve; special companion, Ms. Gerinda Lockett of Georgia who he loved and enjoyed and host of extended family; cousins, great nieces and nephews and several lifelong friends.
