DeJarius "DJ" Allen Matthews

A Celebration Service for DeJarius "DJ" Matthews, 14 of Danville will be noon Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Abundant Life Church with Bishop Ronnie Powell officiating.  Burial will follow in Decatur City Cemetery. Public viewing will be Saturday from 11-4 at Reynolds Funeral Home. Social distancing and wearing of mask will be strictly enforced. 

DeJarius “DJ” Allen Matthews was born in Decatur, Alabama on June 1, 2006 to Dennis Allen Matthews and Beverlyn Carter Matthews.  He departed this life on September 21, 2020 in Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

He is preceded in death by his grandmothers Carolyn Carter and Rosetta Matthews, and his grandfather, James Matthews.

“DJ” was a beloved son, brother, nephew and uncle. He leaves behind his loving mother, Beverlyn Matthews and father, Dennis Matthews. He also leaves behind his brothers, Ryan Glover, Jeremy Cutts and Chris Maul, as well as his sisters, Unique Glover, Jasmine Glover, Denitra Matthews and India Maul; grandparents Gregory (Florence) Carter.   Along with his parents and siblings, he will be greatly missed by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and his three nephews, Justice, Christopher and Judah.

While DJ’s time here on earth was short, he gave us all 14 years of pure joy and unconditional love. Memories of his smile will always brighten our darkest days and remembering the sound of his laughter will always bring happiness to our hearts. He was an angel on earth, and now he has returned to glory as an angel in heaven.
