Denise (Bailey) Johnson

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Denise Bailey Johnson, 61 of Decatur, Alabama will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 22, 2022 at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer with Bishop Thomas D. Strong officiating. Inhumation will follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service.  Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 PM till 6:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Service. 

Denise Bailey Johnson was born on January 20, 1960, in Decatur, Alabama to Louise Hughes Bailey and the late Ezekiel Bailey. She departed this life peacefully on January 11, 2022, with her family by her side. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer. She loved reading her Bible, watching African movies, gardening, and cooking for her family and friends. She attended Decatur City Schools.

She worked for Burger Chef as an assistant manager. She also worked for Decatur city schools as an office assistant until she became ill. In 2002, her daughter, Tykishia, gifted her mother a kidney. Doctors warned Tykishia that donating a kidney to her mother would reduce the chances of having a family of her own; Tykishia chose to help save her mother's life. Denise lived a beautiful life, full of joy and laughter. She was known for her kindness and lovely smile. She was truly blessed by God and will be missed by so many. Denise is now eternally reunited with her husband.

She leaves to cherish her love and memories: her caring children, Roger Bailey of Decatur, Tykishia Johnson Anderson (Jamaal) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Shuntilia Johnson (Mallory) of Decatur, Alabama; seven joyous grandchildren, Akarah Banks, Shaniya Bailey, Jaydin Bailey, Kimora Bailey, Zayden Bailey, Austin Anderson, and Kyson Anderson; three adorable great-grandchildren, Londyn, Lenyx, and Legend; a loving and devoted mother, Louise Bailey; five loving sisters, Shirley Mason (Paul), Kathleen Bailey, Amanda Spangler (Lee), Vickie Strong (Bishop Thomas) and Annette Bradley (Paul); four brothers-in-law, Jimmy Johnson, Bill Johnson (Cynthia), Kenneth Johnson (Ruth), and Charles Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, church members, and friends
