A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Diane McDonald Wiggins, 66 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Christ Temple Holiness Church with Dr. Chinetha Baker officiating. Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Friday from 3:00 till 6:00 and the family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Diane McDonald Wiggins was born on October 30, 1954, in Decatur, Alabama to the late Olonzo McDonald Sr. and Ethel Lee Brown McDonald. She departed this life on June 7, 2021 at Decatur Morgan Hospital-Decatur General Campus.
Sister Wiggins accepted Christ at an early age and united with Westside M.B. Church. She later joined the Apostolic Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Herman Finley. She was currently united with Christ Temple Holiness Church under the leadership of Dr. Chinetha Baker.
Diane attended Lakeside High School and graduated in 1973 from Austin High School. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Charles Wiggins for 50 yrs., and to this union seven children were born, three preceded her in death.
She was very active in the lives of her children. She served on the Brookhaven Middle School PTA Board; Book Fair Chairperson; Parent Volunteer Co-ordinator, TASIL assigned to her; and Communication Advocate for the North Alabama Regional Hospital. Her other enjoyments were working with West Morgan Nursing Home; selling Avon, she knew everyone’s telephone number; watching soap operas, owning of her own day care, and especially being around her family.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Charles Jr., Monica Michelle and Kenton Mikel and one sister, Mable Campbell.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 50 years, Charles Wiggins Sr; four children, Tiffany Wiggins of Decatur, Paula Wiggins, Kristy Wiggins both of Huntsville and Brandon Wiggins of Decatur; siblings, Larry McDonald (Mary) and Sharon Johnson (Lorenzo) both of Decatur, and Olonzo McDonald Jr. of Temple Hill, MD; godchildren, The Reverend Timothy Bumpus (Hope), April Tucker of Decatur and Skyla Hall (Mark) of Atlanta, GA; six god-grandchildren; special friend, Lloydia Dorset and a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
