Services for Mr. Donald Owens. 68 of Hillsboro, Alabama will be Noon, Tuesday March 22, 2022 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Inhumation will follow in Owens Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Monday March 21, 2022 from 1:00PM until 6:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
On Tuesday morning, the fifteenth day of March, God looked down and called one of His humble children, Donald Owens, to be with Him.
Psalm 116:15: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints.”
Donald Cordell Owens was born to the late James Samuel Owens, Sr and the late Cornelia Swoope Owens on Saturday, August 29, 1953.
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Olive P.B. Church in Hillsboro, Alabama under the leadership of the late Reverend D. C. Crittendon.
He was affectionately called “Roller” and “Radar” by his loving family and friends. He was known for his gentle, caring, sweet spirit. Donald was a compassionate, loving person, always willing to help others should the need arise.
Donald graduated from Courtland High School in Lawrence County, Alabama.
He retired from Wayne Farms in Decatur after working for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, James Samuel Owens, Jr, Belinda Gail Porter, Dorothy O. Smith and James Harris; nephew, Mario C. Owens, Sr; special cousin, Katie Frances Owens.
Donald leaves to cherish his precious memory: two sisters, Martha O. Robinson and a devoted sister, Minister Gloria Dean Owens-Bouldin (Mizell) both of Decatur, AL; brothers, Coynis Owens of Hillsboro, AL and John Harris of Courtland, AL; one aunt, Louise O. Jones of Hillsboro, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
