Graveside service for Mr. Donnie Lee Lyle 59 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Friday October 15, 2021 at Sterrs Cemetery with the Rev. Bernard Birgans officiating. Public viewing will be Thursday October 14, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel.
Donnie Lee Lyle was born on April 13, 1962, in Trinity, Alabama to Earl Bates and Mary Jeff Bolden Lyle. He departed this life on October 9, 2021, at his home in Decatur, AL.
Donnie accepted Christ at an early age and attended Love Chapel CME Church in Trinity, AL.
Donnie was a 1980 graduate of East Lawrence High School in Trinity, AL where he was a member of the football team.
Donnie was a carpenter by trade and he had a love of painting. He was employed by Community Action and Dooney’s Construction. He also volunteered at the Mary Ruth Food Bank under the leadership of the late Apostle Dr. Carter Videau.
D. Lyle had a big heart. He loved his family and his friends, and despite his own disabilities, he was always willing to help others.
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Patrick Lewis Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter Dontosha Lyle; a special Aunt who raised him as her own from infancy, Artelia F. Bolden; a devoted stepmother Liz Moore Bates; his brothers Julian O. (Melicent) Bolden, Paul L. (Terrina) Bolden, Stevie W. (Charity) Bolden, Eric F. Bates, Earl Bates Jr; Anthony Johnson; one sister Crystal (Johnathan) Bates West; his aunts Shirley Davis, Janice (Donald) B. Watkins, Marilyn Bates, Alberta B. Brown, Vivian McDaniel; his uncles Robert Bates Jr., Russell Bates, Stanley Bates, Garyon (Sherry) Bates; one devoted niece Shenna Matthews, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
