Graveside Service for Mrs. Doris S. Crayton, 70 of Hillsboro, Alabama will be noon Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Calvary Memorial Gardens with Bishop Thomas Davis officiating. Public viewing will be Monday from 12:30-5:30 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Doris S. Crayton was born on February 12, 1950 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Mary Goodlow Crayton and the late Kelly Crayton. She departed her life on January 6, 2021 at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Alabama.
Doris was a 1970 graduate of Central High School in Courtland, AL. She was employed at Delphi Steering Gear where she retired with 32 years of service.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Wheeler Chapel M.B. Church. She was a faithful church worker and really loved her church. At Wheeler she served as an usher and sang in the choir,
One of her favorite hobbies was working outside and cooking. She also loved gospel singing and quartet music. People always commented to her about eating out with her children and grandchildren after church on Sundays. Doris loved and worked faithfully in her church as an usher and sang in the choir, despite her illness,
She loved to keep her house clean and people often talked about it to her. She was an avid Auburn Football fan. She portrayed kindness and was an excellent example of it.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Kelly Crayton; siblings, Jamie Mae Shackelford and Clarence Crayton; a grandson, Jacob Fletcher.
Doris leaves to cherish her memory; her six children, Nicole (Ronald) Fletcher, Chandor (Paul) Gladney, Jowanna Birgans, Cedric (Crystal) Birgans, Zedric (Virginia) Birgans, and Ieshia Crayton; 13 grandchildren, Brandon (Monica), Duan, Dalvin, Jahkese, Kennedi, Jahniay, Ronald II, Jahbraught, Jada, Surria, Nadia, Ja’Maury, Junior; two great grandchildren, Natalie and Brandon, Jr.; two sisters, Gloria Crayton, and Florine Crayton;
six brothers, Willie Crayton, Riley Crayton, Sterling (Lashawn) Crayton Collis (Doris Ann) Crayton, Jerry (Joyce) Crayton, Wallace (Geneice) Crayton; one aunt, Sallie Eberhardt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friend;. one special friend, Clifford Jones.
