Funeral Service for Ms. Doris A. Pointer 63 of Decatur, AL. will be 11AM Thursday in Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. .
Doris Ann Pointer was born in Lawrence County AL on March 22, 1961, to Hoyle (Elliott) & Aaron J. Pointer. Ms. Pointer transitioned March 19, 2025 at her residence In Decatur, Alabama.
She attended Lawrence County High school and East Lawrence High School briefly before obtaining her GED.
Doris worked over the years in the food service industry and was an amazing cook. She cooked with love and prepared everything from scratch. Before her health declined, she worked at Simply Delicious. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, being outdoors, fishing, reading, and watching Westerns, or taking a leisure drive to Oakville to visit with family. She was passionate about her grandchildren and loved to cook. Doris had a big personality and had an impact on each person she met. She loved to laugh and dance and enjoy life.
Until her health started to decline, she loved attending and joined church at Restoration Church in Madison, AL. She helped with the children’s nursery.
Doris was predeceased by her parents, Hoyle (Elliott) & Aaron J. Pointer; siblings: Betty Jean Pointer, Jenniece Pointer Brown, and Charles Pointer.
She is survived by her children: Natasha (Johnny III) Bellman, Sparkles Pointer, and Ahmaad (Qortia) Pointer. Seven grandchildren: Jamarius Collins, Troy, AL, Marley Taylor, Tuscaloosa, AL, Varick Taylor II, Birmingham, AL, Ahmaad Pointer II, Huntsville, AL, Heavon Sims, Payton Jones, and Houston Pointer, all of Decatur, AL, one great grandchild, Hyierra Gladney of Decatur, AL, and her long-time life partner, Arthur James; her fur baby, Millie. Her siblings: Lassie Mae Pointer, Myrtle Beach, SC, Aaron Pointer, Moulton, AL, Elizabeth Pointer, Deloris Pointer, Thelma Pointer, Melethia Pointer, and Frances Pointer, all of Decatur, AL.
