Graveside Service for Mrs. Dorothy Eloise Jefferson, 74 of Madison, Alabama will be 1:30 pm Saturday at the Oakland Cemetery with the Reverend James O. Robinson officiating. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 pm till 6:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
The sun rose in Limestone County, Alabama on January 15, 1947 for Dorothy Eloise Miller Jefferson, affectionately called, “Dot”. The only child born to the late Elease Patton and the late Thomas William Miller. She departed this life at 5:30 pm, on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Madison Hospital in Madison, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James Harper “KingFish” and Willie Miller “Buck”, a special aunt, Beulah Patton and husbands, Oscar B. Rodgers and Bill Jefferson.
Dorothy accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Mt. Zion C.P. Church under the leadership of the Rev. Aaron Toney in Madison, AL.
Dorothy attended Greenbrier Elementary and Junior High Schools, and later was a graduate of Trinity High School Class of 1965. She also attended Drake State Technical College, where she received her certification in food prep. She later worked for Matthews Industries and Decatur General Hospital. Dorothy retired from Volunteers of America after 17 years of dedicated service. Dorothy also enjoyed cooking family dinners, baking cakes, watching westerns and Golden Girls, shopping Belk’s and most of all spoiling children and grandchildren.
Dorothy was cherished by: a devoted daughter and caretaker, Natasha Rodgers of Decatur, AL; one son, Malcolm V. Rodgers (Mashell) of Madison, AL and loving daughter, Felicia M. Lyle of Decatur, AL; seven grandchildren, Sinitta, Feanna, Tatyana, Chrishon, Michael, Jaylin and Malik; fourteen great-grandchildren; six sisters, Marion Douglass (Leo) of Opelika, AL, Doris Miller of Athens, AL, Barbara Miller (Thomas Jr.) of Birmingham, AL, Lois Bailey and Maxine Holly of Madison, AL, Mary Tremble (Angelo) of Montgomery, AL; a brother, Stephan Miller (Phyllis) of Harvest, AL; a devoted and loving aunt and uncle, Stella Logan and Clifford Patton; her special classmates and friends, Mrs. Juanita McGahee Pendleton and Thomas Sandefer; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be First Cousins and Flower Bearers will be Nieces and Classmates
