Dorris (Gholston) Davenport

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Dorris Gholston Davenport, 61 of Town Creek, Alabama will be noon Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Darius Holden officiating and burial in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Friday from 2:00 pm till 6:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dorris Gholston Davenport entered this life on October 23, 1959 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late James Ruel Gholston and the late Josephine Stovall Gholston.  She departed this earthly life on June 20, 2021 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Town Creek, AL. She was a member until her death under the leadership of Pastor Darius Holden.

She was a loving wife, wonderful mother and a devoted caregiver to her family. She touched so many lives and will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ruel Gholston and Josephine Stovall Gholston; three brothers, Charlie D. Gholston, Clarence Gholston and Perry Lee Gholston.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted and loving husband of 33 years, Ronnie Davenport of Town Creek, AL; her children, Sherry (Allen) Gholston of Decatur, AL, Stacy (Jason) Davis, Monzell Gholston of Muscle Shoals, AL,  Yolonda (Jeremiah) McConico of Montgomery, AL, Ashley Gholston of Town Creek, AL and Corey Gholston of Courtland, AL; grandchildren, Ayzia Gholston, Kameron Davis, Quartavius McConico, Cameron Carter, Jeremiah McConico Jr., Josie Davis, Jordan Brandon, Jalani McConico; four brothers, Ruel James Gholston, Roneal Gholston of Decatur, AL, Connie Mack Gholston, Ricky (Angela) Gholston of Town Creek, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
