Graveside Service for Mr. Douglas Lemar Grant, 51 of Moulton, Alabama will be 11:00 am Friday, September 10, 2021 at Landersville Cemetery with the Reverend Timothy Perryman officiating. Public viewing will be Thursday from 1:00 pm till 6:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Douglas (Lemar) Grant was born on October 11, 1969 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Fred Douglas Young and Bobbie Jean Grant. He departed his life on September 6, 2021, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
He was a graduate of Lawrence County High School in Moulton, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the Rev. Horace Snodgrass in Moulton, Alabama.
Lemar was a man of many great talents. He loved making music with his close friends back in his younger days. He also enjoyed drawing and painting for others.
After retiring “He moved away from Moulton for some years, but he recently returned. In his own words “I need to be home to take care of my mama.” The oldest of four children, he was always helpful with his younger siblings. He loved his own children dearly, and was affectionately named “the hot dog man” by the neighborhood children, because he would randomly grill hot dogs and call them all over to have one.
If you didn’t know him, you surely missed a blessing. Raised by his mother and grandma, Dovie, he became a man that they both could be proud of.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Young and grandmother, Dovie Fletcher.
He is survived by: his wife, Donna Grant; his mother, Bobbie Grant; his children, Tyler Lemar (Megan) Grant of Decatur, AL, Raven Grant (Heem) of Decatur, Lyric Grant of Town Creek, AL; step-daughter, Addie Robertson; siblings, Derrick Grant of Greenville, TN, Jeffrey Grant of Moulton, AL and TonieHa (Don) Mitchell of Moulton, AL; three nieces, Cheyenne Grant, Imari Mitchell and Olivia Mitchell; six grandchildren that knew him as “Papa” Jakayla Morris, Landon Burton, Brennan (BB) Burton, Ethan Burton, Kali Grant and Chandler Grant; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
