A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Ella Patterson, 62 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Saturday, April 10, 2021 at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer with Bishop Thomas D. Strong officiating. Inhumation will follow in Springhill Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Ella Whitfield Patterson was born on May 5, 1958 in Decatur, Alabama to the late William H. Whitfield and the late Shirley Smith McGrone. She departed this life on April 1, 2021 in Albany, Georgia.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with St. Stephens P. B. Church.
In 1979 she relocated to Chicago when she married Robert Patterson.
Ella graduated from Wilbur Wright College in Chicago, IL with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts in 1991. She later graduated from Athens State in 1995 with a Bachelor in Science in Psychology.
She was always willing to help anyone in need. Those who knew her best regarded her as “Mama Tootie”.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Eva Whitfield McKinney; sister, Minnie Smith and brother, William A. Whitfield.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory: her husband, Robert Patterson; children, Tiffany Patterson, Ivori Patterson, Chloe Patterson and Rhyne Patterson; grandchildren, Jamar Echols and Timothy Echols; siblings, Loretta Walker, Eva Whitfield, Clarence (Michelle) Whitfield, Sherry (Philip) Newborn, Paula (Princescilla) McGrone, Therom Whitfield, Sedrick (Tomica) Whitfield, Markus (Myra) Whitfield, Lutrecia (Tony) Elliott and Margaret Mitchell; aunt, Johnnie Mae Lester; uncle, James Smith; a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
