Eric Leon Morris

A Celebration of Life Service Mr. Eric Leon Morris, 70, of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00 AM Saturday at King’s Memorial United Methodist Church. Inhumation will follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Eric Leon Morris was born in Decatur, Alabama on May 20, 1952, the 4th of 14 children to the late Lester Morris Sr. and Beatrice Steele Morris. He departed this life and entered into eternity on September 18th, 2022 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.

He accepted Christ at an early age and united with First Missionary Baptist Church. He later became a member of Love Chapel CME Church. He maintained his belief in God and stood strong in his faith.

“Leon” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends was a graduate of Decatur High School class of 1970. He was employed at Dunlap Tires for 27 years until his retirement on December 4, 2003.

He was preceded in death by: his parents Lester Sr. and Beatrice Morris; son; Quincy Jerel Morris; wife, Laura Coffey Morris; brother, Arthur Morris; sister, Molly Williams. 

Mr. Morris is survived by: his children, Roderick Morris (Verenda) of Decatur Al, Eric McDaniel (Vickie) of Hillsboro, Al, Adrian Morris of Narashino, Japan, Sharonda Acklin, Kenya Coffey, Francilia Coffey all of Decatur, Al; five brothers, Lester Morris, Leonard Morris (Sonia) of Decatur, Al, Sherman Morris (Marilyn) of Hillsboro, Al, Robert Earl Morris (Vickie) of Harvest, Al, Ricky Morris of Huntsville, Al; six sisters, Sandra Coleman (Mitchell), Patricia Bell (Brenston), Barbara Fletcher (Karlon), Gloria Elliott (Keith) all of Decatur, Al, Wanda Young (Jerrod) of Harvest Al; two aunts, Rosalyn Archie of Huntsville, Al, Carolyn Powell of Madison, Al; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, friends, former classmates and coworkers.
