Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Ernest Wayne Torain, 63, of Decatur, AL will be at 12:30 PM, Saturday at Canaan M.B. Church with the Reverend Ronald Merriweather officiating. Inhumation will follow in Decatur City Cemetery. Mr. Torain will lie in repose one hour prior to service.
Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mr. Torain transitioned January 13, 2026 at his residence.
Ernest “ET” Wayne Torain was born on February 18,1962, in Decatur, Alabama to Matthew and Ruby Harris Torain.He graduated from Austin High School in 1979. Ernest accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Canaan M. B. Church under the leadership of the Reverend Richard Whiteside. He served faithfully on the Usher board, sung with the male choir, and drove the bus for Vacation Bible School. He was a faithful member and always was in attendance for Sunday morning worship. He retired with a total of 39 years of service at General Motors working at both Decatur, Alabama and Bowling Green, Kentucky. He enjoyed played basketball for the UAW. After retiring, Ernest returned home to Decatur, Alabama, where he enjoyed being the
life of the party, cheering for the Auburn Tigers, and being “Uncle Wayne” to anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Mary Alice Fitzgerald Harris, Louie Harris, Annie Mary Torain and PoseyTorain; and a brother Calvin Torain.He leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, Matthew and Ruby Torain; four children, Takeisha (Michael) Fanning, Bryan (Shanna) Torain, Tovona Torain, and Kayla Collier; five grandchildren, Alente, Tatyana, Shakur, Isaiah, and Bryan Jr.; and four great-grands, Aubri, Ashtyn, Kaizon and Amillyon: a sister, Angela Torain (John) Abbasi; nieces, Calnetra (Demetrius) Purvis, Tiffany Fain, and Aliyah Torain; five uncles; Moses Torain, Nathaniel (Lucy) Torain, Stanley Torain, Drake "Cookie” Torain, and Wes (Lesa) Torain; four aunts; Emily (Earnest) Pace, Rose Torain Davis, Jewel Torain and Beverlyn Torain Glover; his loving fur companion “Champ” and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
