Evelina Madden Owens

Funeral Service for Mrs. Evelina Madden Owens, 67, of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Little Star C.P.C.A. Church with Rev. James Miller officiating. Inhumation will follow in Dobbins Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Evelina Madden Owens (Cuz) was born in Lawrence County, Alabama on November 12, 1955. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Leon Madden and the late Ida Mae (Mary) Smith Madden. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Evelina confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined fellowship with Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of her father, the late Reverend Leon Madden. She later moved her membership to Little Star Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America. During her membership, she served in the choir. She loved the Lord, her family, and her church family.

On August 13th, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late James Owens, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, James Owens III, and her brother, Percy Madden.

She leaves to cherish her memory; two loving sons, Labron (Cookie) Madden of Trinity, AL and Laron Owens (Loure) of Decatur, AL; grandchildren, Takiya Jones, James, Macari and Sebastien Owens; six step-grandchildren all of Decatur, AL; one sister, Nora (Red) Gholston, Decatur, AL; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Madden; a niece, O’Sheer Madden, both of Decatur, AL; two aunts, Carrie Moore, Decatur, AL, Mary Allen (Frank),Tuscumbia, AL; two uncles, George Smith and James Smith (Louise), Decatur, AL; a host of devoted cousins and friends; her special loving and furry friend, Rura (her pet dog).
