Freda Denise (Jones) Mack

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Freda Denise Jones Mack, 61 of Decatur, Alabama will be 1:00 PM Friday, May 26, 2023 at God’s Love Covenant Church with the Reverend Regina Willingham officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral service. Public viewing will be Thursday from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Freda Denise Jones Mack was born on January 23, 1962 to Sylvester Jones and Gloria Fuqua Jones in Decatur, AL. She transitioned to heaven on May 19, 2023 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Freda graduated high school from West Morgan High School in 1979. After high school, she attended cosmetology school at Calhoun Community College and began a brief career in cosmetology. She soon after became employed by General Motors-Delphi as an operator where she retired.

Freda had a flair for all things such as fashion, interior decor, and gardening. You could often find her zipping around town dressed to the nines and running her clothing boutique in downtown Decatur.  If you entered her home, it felt as if you were in an interior design studio. Her yard, for many years, boasted beautiful plants and flowers because of her love for gardening.  But the most admirable trait of Freda was her heart. Freda had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off her back to help those in need and would not think twice about it. Her answer was never “no” but always “yes” when it came to helping others.

The passing of her granddaughter, Destiny Riekeberg in 2020 to cancer, left a big hole in her heart. One that could not be filled. She slowly lost her smile over the grief and pain. But that smile returned on May 19th, 2023 when she was reunited with Destiny.

Freda was preceded in death by her father Sylvester Jones, mother Gloria Jones, husband Alexander Mack, and granddaughter Destiny Riekeberg.

She is survived by: her daughter, Lacretia Riekeberg (Dustin); grandson, Deuce Riekeberg all of Pelham, AL; sisters, Ella Cowley (Oscar) of Decatur, AL, Lavern Orr (Billy) of Hartselle, AL; brother, Sylvester Jones Jr (Cynthia Jones) of Decatur, AL; god sisters, Hazel Garner, Town Creek, AL, Lisa Gholston Orr of Decatur, AL; niece, Candace Cowley of Decatur, AL; nephew, Josh Orr (Jess Orr) of Athens, AL and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
