Gean Evelyn (Tucker) Johnson

A Celebration of Life for Gean Evelyn Tucker Johnson, 72 of Decatur, Alabama will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at 11:00 AM at Lifeline Church. Inhumation will follow at Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service.  Public viewing will be Monday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9th from 5-6:30 PM at Moulton Heights MB Church.

Gean Evelyn Tucker-Johnson was born in Decatur Alabama on November 25, 1951 to Thomas James Tucker Sr. and Lucille Glover Tucker. She departed this life on September 3, 2024 in Decatur, Alabama.

Gean confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and became a member of Moulton Heights MB Church. She was currently fellowshipping with St. Peter M.B. Church.

Gean graduated from West Morgan High School. Soon afterwards, she married Nathan Johnson Sr. and moved to Westland, Michigan where she resided for 34 years.

While living in Westland, she raised four children, who she loved dearly and continuously boasted about until the end. She had a host of friends and extended family on Powers Street.

Gean accomplished many great feats including conquering her fear of driving and getting her driver’s license, becoming a union representative before departing Michigan and returning home to Decatur, Alabama.

Gean enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, DIY projects, decorating her house always making it a warm place to live, shopping and talking with her children and grandchildren.

In retirement, Gean continued to be a caretaker of those around her.

Gean was preceded in death by her parents-Thomas Sr and Lucille Tucker, brother Alfred Tucker as well as her dear sister, Felice Tucker who transitioned on September 3, 2024.

Gean leaves behind her dearly beloved and cherished four children- Nathan Johnson Jr. (Stacia), Annissia Johnson, Kristie Cabbil (Hank), and Ellissa Johnson  (Clifford) Freeman; 12 grandchildren- ShaTarra Reed (Javier), ChaRay Bland (Calvin), Jada Mosely, Nathan Johnson III, Marquise Graves, Tyrinn Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Kareem Ramzah Jr, Clifford Freeman Jr;, Natia Johnson, Cristian Cabbil, and Avery Freeman; seven great-grandchildren; siblings- Thomas Tucker Jr, Patsy Gayle Thorne, Jerry (Bessie) Tucker, Henry Tucker and Forrest (Latonya) Tucker; aunts: Doris Jones, Decatur, AL; Elizabeth Scott, Hempstead, NY and Fredda Tucker, Memphis, TN and a host of many relatives and friends.
