Henry Lee Denson Jr.

Funeral Service for Mr. Henry Denson Jr.,76, of Decatur, AL will be noon,Thursday February 20, 2025 at Alpha Seventh Day Adventist Church with the Reverend Gary Jones officiating. Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Wednesday February 19, 2025, from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Henry Lee Denson, Jr. was one of five children born to the late Henry Denson, Sr., and Essie Mae Turner Denson. He entered this life on July 18, 1948, in Talladega, Alabama, and peacefully passed away on February 11, 2025 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Henry gave his life to Christ at an early age and became a Union Springs Baptist Church member. Later, he joined Alpha Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he was active in the Men's Ministry.

Henry was a 1966 Ophelia S. Hill High School graduate in Munford, Alabama. After graduation, Henry attended NF Nunnelley State Technical College in Childersburg, AL, majoring in auto mechanics. In 1969, he traveled to Indiana and began his career at General Motors shortly after. Later, he transferred to Meridian, Mississippi, back to Indiana, and eventually moved to Decatur, Alabama, where he worked at General Motors in Athens, AL from 1986-2006. After retirement, he worked part-time for Enterprise Rent-a-Car for several years. During this time, he remained a member of General Motors UAW, where he enjoyed attending different events.

Henry, affectionately known as “Pete” to his family, was a person who never met a stranger. Interacting with everyone and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and other family

members filled him with joy. He enjoyed building model cars, attending auto races and baseball games. He also loved watching baseball, auto racing, westerns, and crime shows. Henry always completed the daily newspaper crossword puzzle each night before bed.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry, Sr. and Essie Denson, his oldest brother, Lovell Denson, his nephew, Chris Denson, and his wife of twenty years, Nina Miller Denson.

Henry Lee Denson, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Sandra (Brenton) McCurry and Mark (LaKeitha) Denson, both of Jacksonville, AL, Gina Denson, and Dana (Alonzo) Smith, Snellville, GA.; his stepchildren, Garland (Cheryl) Davis, Huntsville, AL, and Wanda Davis, Athens, AL; one sister, Carolyn Drake, Huntsville, AL; two brothers, Carswell (Phyllis) Denson, Atlanta, GA, and Paul Denson, Talladega, AL; two sisters-in-law, 15 grandchildren; RJ, TJ, Roderick, Jasmine (Tevin), Chaderick, Jada, India, Dierre, Ayreanna, Ziayre, Robert III, Robreya, Edward II, Da’Nayzia, and Da’Naiya); seven great grandchildren, a special friend, Ross Malone, Jr., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
