Graveside service for Mr. Herman Hurt, 56 of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Decatur City Cemetery with Bro. Larry Williams Sr. officiating. Public viewing will be Monday from noon till 5:00 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Herman Hurt was born on January 17, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois to Dora Thomas Hurt and the late Harman Hurt. He departed this life on October 5, 2020 at the University Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
He attended Crane High School and completed the Job Corps program. He then relocated to several city and eventually resided in Decatur, Alabama. He attended Eastside Church of Christ. He was employed as a stocker for Dollar Tree for several years. He was a quiet fun-loving person that enjoyed being with family and friends. He loved being outdoors and was an early morning riser. He will be thoroughly missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Dora Thomas Hurt; his beloved wife, Rebecca Steger-Hurt; three daughters, Anastasia Boozer of Atlanta, GA, Chaunte McCamey of Hollywood, AL and Nikki Clay of Scottsboro, AL; two grandchildren, Kenyan Clay Alexander Wilborn and Jayce Young McCamey; one brother, Bobby Thomas; one aunt, Ella Chester both of Decatur; one dad that help reared him, David Joseph of Chicago, IL; a dear friend, Leon Jefferson of Decatur; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
