Horace Wyatt Jr. was a native of Nashville, Tennessee, born March 8,1953 to the late Horace and Lorine Sales Wyatt Sr. In 1998, he relocated to Decatur, Alabama, where he built a life with his devoted wife of nearly 25 years. Horace was a man who found great purpose in both his work and his hobbies. He possessed a unique talent for repairing things—if something was broken, Horace would find a way to fix it. Whether tackling a mechanical issue or a household project, he was at his best when working with his hands. It was in his nature to ask a “question with a question,” often making you laugh as you tried to find the right answer. Horace departed this life January 28,2026 in Decatur, Alabama. His quiet reliability, inquisitive spirit, and practical nature were true testaments to his character, and he will be deeply missed by neighbors, friends, and family. Horace was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Wyatt Sr. and Lerlan Sales Wyatt; his brothers, Michael Wyatt and Eddie Wyatt; his sisters, Flores Wyatt Simmons and Leona Washington; and his daughter, Samika Moore. Horace leaves behind his devoted and loving wife, Mildred Williams Wyatt. He is survived by his children, all residing in Tennessee: Horace Eugene Moore (Sylvia), Tara Wyatt, Terry Wyatt, and Codey Wyatt. He also leaves behind his stepchildren, all residing in Alabama: Rodney Williams; Marlowe Parker (Jennifer); and Chris Parker (Millicent). His light will continue to shine through his 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride. Horace is also survived by his brothers: Levon Wyatt of Nashville, TN; Melvin (Linda) Wyatt of Madison, TN; and Tommie L. Wyatt of Indianapolis, IN. His sisters-in-law include Ann Bolden of Decatur, AL; Peggy (Hollis) Parker of Marietta, GA; Janette French of Decatur, AL; and Wanda Ingram of Montgomery, AL. He leaves behind a special aunt, Ethel Dancey, who resides in Alabama, along with three additional aunts from Nashville, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
