A Celebration of Life for Mr. Howard Boyd, 88, of Falkville, Alabama will be noon Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Reverend Timothy Perryman officiating. Inhumation will follow in Moulton Memory Gardens. Mr.Boyd will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.
Public viewing will be Monday from1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Howard Rosevelt Boyd was born to the late Mr. Irwin C. Boyd and Mrs. Zadie Wilhite Boyd on December 19, 1937. His childhood was spent in the small hamlet (Kimo) of Moulton, Alabama
On Monday, February 9, 2026, Howard’s petal was plucked and he entered peacefully into eternal rest with his beloved by his side.
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Savior, and joined Smith Chapel CME Church under the tutelage of the late Reverend Charlie Thompson.
He entered into the Lawrence County school system, and was a graduate of Moulton High School where he excelled in both basketball and football. His love for the sports was evident throughout his life.
Several years after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Debra Griffin Boyd and they moved to New Rochelle, New York, this was home for over 35 years.
Affectionally called “Tater” by his friends, he was a very personable person and had a deep passion for conversation with everyone and was always responding to the many requests to help others.
Howard pursued his interest in law enforcement and was an employee at Westchester County Penitentiary in Valhalla, NY. As an officer, he received numerous recommendations and citations for conduct and executing his duties in a professional and unbiased manner
He was preceded in death by his parents Irwin C. Boyd and Zadie Whilhite Boyd a sister, Margie Moss, a brother, G. R. Boyd. In 1992, after 30 years, he retired and relocated back to his native Alabama.
Survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Debra Ann Griffin Boyd; of Falkville, AL; son, Reginald Boyd, of New Rochelle, New York; daughter, Vonda Boyd, of Falkville, Alabama; two grandsons, Monteese Boyd, of White Plains, New York, Terrel Boyd of Stamford, Ct; a great-grandson Amarie Boyd of Stamford, CT; a sister -in law; Carol Griffin of New Rochelle, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
