A Celebration of Life with limited seating for Ja’ Marque “Jay-5” Rahntez Torain, 43 of Decatur, Alabama.will be 11:00 am Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Reverend Stanley Torain officiating. Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm till 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Ja’Marque was born on August 21, 1979 in Decatur, Alabama. He departed this life peacefully at Decatur General Hospital on November 24, 2022.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 9
years old and became a member of Canaan Missionary
Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Alabama. He served as a crusader, on the junior usher board, and sang in
the youth choir.
Affectionally known as “Jay-5,” he was an outstanding
and talented basketball player at Decatur High School, graduating class of 1997. To Ja’Marque, basketball was
not only a sport, but also a lifestyle and he was sure
to instill that logic into his nephews as often as he could.
To most, the number of points scored in a game is what
counts; however, to Ja’Marque the assists always brought
the victory. When asked why this was most important
to him and not the points, he would explain how anyone
can put the ball in the basket, but it takes true skill to
handle the ball and get it in the right hands.
Ja’Marque is now eternally reunited with his father,
Ezzard Charles Torain.
He leaves to cherish his love and memory with his mother: Francelia Torain, Decatur, Alabama; his sisters: Chasity Richardson (David) Huntsville, Alabama; Heather Ingram (Anthony) Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Candas Rogers (Karlos) Madison, Alabama; and Mistye Weakley (Chris) Tuscumbia, Alabama; his nephews: Xavier, Jaxon, Jacob, and Axel; his nieces: Paige, Karleigh, Avri, Charlestyn, Kaycee, and Raelynn; his great niece: Salem; a special uncle: Nathaniel Torain; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
