Jake Thorne Obituary

Jake Thorne, 73 was born in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Charlie and Annie Mae Bristol Thorne on July 3, 1947. He departed this life on November 9, 2020 at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Alabama.

Jake was a quiet person who loved working in yards. He was known as the “Lawnmower Man” because he kept up several yards in the community. He lived in Decatur for numerous years and for the past three years he resided in Athens, Alabama.

Mr. Thorne was preceded in death by: his parents, Charlie and Annie Mae Thorne; siblings, Emma Jean Thorne Cohn, Annie Lee Thorne Brown and Thomas Clyde Thorne.

He is survived by: his siblings, Robert Lee (Betty Mayes) Thorne of Decatur, Charlie (Mattie) Thorne of Huntsville, Judy Thorne Birgans of Decatur and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will conduct a private memorial service at a later date.
