Graveside services for Mr. Jamaal Jackson, 41 of Decatur, Alabama will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 14, 2022 at Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose 30 minutes prior to service. Public viewing will be Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. Mr. Jackson transitioned January 9, 2022.
Jamaal Jackson was born March 31, 1980 in Decatur, AL to the late Jamaal Saleem Akbar Jackson and to Cathy Jackson. He departed this life tragically on January 9, 2022. Upon completing his general education, Jamaal went on to J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College to pursue a career doing what he loved – barbering. Jamaal was known to carry clippers in the car to provide a fresh cut to anyone in need. Preceding his death, his barber skills were sought after in Decatur and Columbia, TN.
The meaning of the name Jamaal describes him perfectly - handsome, ambitious, funny, protective, generous, sincere and captivating. Jamaal had a heart of gold and could make anyone smile. He also had a tremendous love for family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jameel Jackson, his maternal grandfather, Cleveland Jackson and his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Annie Pearl Jackson.
Jamaal leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Cathy Jackson of Brownsboro, AL; two brothers, Ahmad Jackson of Decatur and Timothy Jackson of Columbia, TN; four sisters, Carrietha Jackson of Columbia, TN, Jamillah Jackson (twin) of Nashville, TN, Michelle Bass of Decatur and Keyonia Yarbrough (Amos} of Huntsville, AL; two nephews, Kenneth Jackson and Kaleb Williams of Columbia, TN; three nieces, Essence Boykin, Avion Jackson and Alani Ingram all of Decatur; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends, including honorary brothers, Dewayne and Chauncey Julius of Columbia, TN.
