Janet Gail (Robinson) Puryear

Funeral Service for Janet Robinson Puryear, 67, of Courtland, Alabama will be noon Thursday September 12, 2024, at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Kobee Fitzgerald officiating. Inhumation will follow in New Life Community Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. 

Public viewing will be Wednesday September 11, 2024, from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Janet (Boo) Robinson Puryear was born in Lawrence County, Alabama, on July 3, 1957, to the late George Robinson and the late Beatrice Mason Robinson. On September 5, 2024, she departed this life at Decatur General Hospital, surrounded by family.

Janet accepted Christ at an early age at the Primitive Baptist Church in Courtland, Alabama, and later joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jesse Little.

Janet grew up in the Little Sam community in Town Creek, Alabama. She graduated from Courtland High School in 1975. In October 1978, she married her soulmate of 46 years, Ronnie Boyd Puryear, and four children were born to this union. She was a beloved and respected employee at Champion Paper Mill in Security for over 20 years. Janet had a gift for conversation and an unrelenting passion for connecting with others. She will be forever remembered and honored by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her brother, James Robinson; father- in-law, Melvin Puryear, Sr.; mother-in-law, Anne Kate Puryear; brothers-in-law, Melvin Puryear, Jr., Clyde Grady Puryear, and Donnie Lloyd Puryear; and sisters-in- law, Phyllis Mayes and Felicia Barrett.

Janet leaves to cherish her memory: devoted and loving husband, Ronnie Boyd Puryear (Twin); four sons, Ronorick Puryear (Marquis) of Courtland, AL, Rodreggus Puryear (Larissa) of Courtland, AL, Jemayel Puryear (Setika) of Town Creek, AL, and Tevin Puryear of Courtland, AL; step daughter, Nakia Young of Decatur, AL; six sisters, Hattie Guster (George), Mary Tucker, Annie Fitzgerald (Elijah), Gloria Goines (Houston), Ida Robinson, and Janelle Sanders (Henry); three brothers, Dennis Robinson (Chantan), Robert Robinson (Cynthia), and Charlie Robinson (Pearlene); five sisters-in-law, Nadine Langham (Roy), Dorothy Jean Garth, Patricia Puryear, Glenda Puryear, and Eva Jackson; three brothers-in-law, Leroy Puryear (Linda), Carl Edward Puryear, and Floyd Wayne Puryear; twelve grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, and four special friends, Carolyn Sue Rains, Shirley Woods, Deloris Fitch, and Shillar Sanders.
