Jerry Smith Obituary

Jerry Freeman Smith, 63, of Hillsboro, Lawrence County Alabama, passed away on April 26, 2024, at his home in Hillsboro Alabama. He was born on May 23, 1960, to Freeman Lee Smith and Nelda Joyce Miller Smith of Hillsboro Alabama.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Jerry was an easygoing guy with a big heart. He enjoyed talking to and meeting new people. He would give you the shirt off his back and do anything to help his neighbors, family, or friends. He liked to wear his hair long and tied back and often wore a bandana on his head. His interests included outdoor activities with a passion for landscaping, playing video games, watching tv such as wrestling and action movies, listening to retro rock music, riding dirt bikes, tinkering with lawn mowers or anything with a motor, and electronics. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them. He was baptized a few months ago and dedicated his life to God. He will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include his partner of 27 years Tami Jackson, his daughters Katrina Martinez (J Hilario), Christina Southards, and his son Jerry Smith II.

His Grandchildren, Erika Ramirez, Jaden Guzman, Raul Guzman, Lorena Martinez,  Angelina Martínez, Jordan Smith, Jacob Smith, Josephina Smith, Chrystopher Brockus and Great grandson Maurizio Ramirez.

His father, Freeman Smith,  his brothers,  Ronald Smith,  James Smith, Gary Smith, Timothy Smith (Joanne),  Anthony Smith (Geraldine), and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his mother, Nelda Joyce Smith, his sister Pamela James, his brother Larry Smith and his partners son Michael Jackson.

Thank You, my heavenly Father! Please calm my heart about the loss of my earthly father and comfort him in Heaven. Please tell him that we miss him dearly and that we are doing our best to find joy in knowing he is with You. Thank you for loving my dad and making the way for him to be there with You.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

 JOHN 3:16
