A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Jessie Lee Jackson, 82 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Moulton Heights Church of Christ with Bro. Harold Wells officiating, Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. Mr. Jackson will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.
Public viewing will be Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
Jessie Lee Jackson was born on November 11, 1943, in Decatur, Alabama, to the late Clarence E. Jackson Sr. and Annie Pearl Reynolds Jackson. He departed this life on December 12, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Jessie graduated from Lakeside High School in 1961. He attended Calhoun Community College and studied engine repair for two years.On July 28, 1962, in Decatur, Alabama he married the love of his life Margaret Miller. He served in the US Army from 1967-1970 where he served as a Sergeant overseas. He later was employed at Flav-O-Rich/Dasi Milk Company in Decatur, Alabama where he worked many years until his retirement on February 7, 2007.
Jessie was known to most people as “Bro. Black” but in his later years he became “Brother Jack/Jackson,” who was a faithful member of Newcomb Street Church of Christ, under the leadership of Brother Harold Wells, until his health failed.
Jessie was a family man that loved his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker and loved working in his yard. One of his favorite things to do was having breakfast and coffee with seniors at Waffle House every morning. In his earlier days he loved playing dominos. He will be missed greatly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Cedric ‘Man’ Jackson; granddaughter, Mercedes Morris; great-grandson, Caleb Martin; brothers, Charles E. Jackson, Clarence E. Jackson, Eugene Jackson, and Jameel Jackson; and sister, Helen Sanders.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 63 years; Margaret Miller Jackson of Decatur, AL; five children; Connie (Gerry) Binford of Harvest, Alabama, Cedric Jackson of Huntsville, Alabama, Lisa (Victor) Marshall of Harvest, Alabama Cynthia Jackson, and Mariano Jackson, both of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandsons, six granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Russell (Kathy) Jackson and Greg (Dara) Jackson both of Decatur, Alabama; three sisters-in-law, Viola Jackson, Elizabeth Miller, and Mattie Mae Miller, al of Decatur, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends .
