With hearts both heavy and grateful, we celebrate the Life of Mrs. Jessie Pearl Jones, 80 of Decatur, Alabama, who departed this earthly life on February 17, 2025 at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children in Huntsville, Alabama. She was born on March 6, 1944, in Lawrence County, Alabama, to the late Sam Jones, Sr. and Earline Mitchum Jones.
Jessie Pearl accepted the Lord at an early age at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Town Creek, Alabama. She later united with Progressive Outreach Ministries in Decatur while under the leadership of Apostle Arthur L. Warrior.
She was a retired and dedicated employee of Decatur Morgan Hospital where she worked as a Dietary Assistant.
She was always upbeat and joyful. She loved nothing more than gathering with loved ones, especially her grandchildren, cooking and imparting her wisdom to all that knew her. She was straightforward and didn’t bite her tongue telling you the truth.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Sam Jones, Sr. and Earline M. Jones; siblings, Katie Mae Barbee, Johnny Jones, Sam Jones, Jr., Percell Jones, Cleveland Jones and Oscar Jones.
She leaves a legacy of love to: her three children, Joe Ann Jones of Marietta, GA, Leon (Georgia) Jones of Madison, AL and Larry (Tracie Williams) Jackson of Decatur; five grandchildren, Ashley (Timothy Chambers) Buford, Jeremy (Osha) Jones, Cameron Jackson and Michaela Jackson all of Decatur, and Leon Jones II of Atlanta, GA; eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Alice Graves of Columbia, KY, Willie Jones of Decatur, Robert (Gwen) Jones of Chattanooga, TN and Annie (Milton) White of Florence and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
