Reynolds Funeral Home announces with deepest sympathy the passing of Mrs. Jo Swopes Beauregard, 84 of Decatur, Alabama who died on May 2, 2020 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, 12 Noon, at Calvary Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Dylan Woodall, officiating and the Rev. Henry Brown, Eulogist.
Jo Ella was born to the late Henry Swopes Sr. and Idella Peoples Swopes of Decatur, AL. Jo Ella departed this life on May 2, 2020 at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Alabama.
Jo Ella accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, Alabama where she served as a Mother of the Church and an usher on the Usher Board. She was a devoted member and attended church faithfully until her health dteclined.
She was employed for many years at Culver Cleaners until she retired. She loved working with her flowers and her dogs.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Pleas Beauregard; brother, Ben Stover; four sisters, Linda Elliott, Della Baker, Ruth Turner and Lena Wallace.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted daughter and caretaker until she passed, Judy Swopes of Decatur; three grandchildren, Sonja Swopes (Monday) of Cleveland, OH, James Swopes (Aleece) of Cleveland, OH and Laura Swopes of Decatur; seven great grandchildren, Jay’Son Swopes of Cleveland, OH, Breonna Swopes and DaQuan Swopes both of Decatur, Jessie James, King James, Messiah and Christiana all of Cleveland, OH; two brothers, Henry Junior Swopes of Athens, AL and William Swopes (Elizabeth) of Decatur; three sisters, Shirley Wooten (Earl) of Huntsville, AL, Peggy Marks and Sharon Swopes both of Decatur; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Turner and Ramona Trice (Rod) both of Dayton, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
