Joe Thomas Jones, Jr.

Joe Thomas Jones, Jr, formerly of Decatur, Alabama died Thursday, March 21, 2024, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Joe T. was born April 18, 1943, in Morgan County to Joe Thomas Jones, Sr. and Ruth Long Jones Hochstetler.  

Joe T. was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Lynne Turney Jones and his parents. 

Joe T. is survived by two sons Joe Thomas Jones III (Dee Dee) and Michael Gardiner Jones (Rhee) all of Decatur, Alabama, two granddaughters Emsley Peyton Jones- Augusta, Georgia; Caroline Jones Tinsley (Jacob)-Decatur, Alabama, and grandchild V Cronenberg (Zev Alexander), one great grandchild ZJ Cronenberg-Champaign, Illinois.  He is also survived by partner Janice Bowman Montgomery and Caregiver, Ellen Montgomery Hayhurst both of Columbia, South Carolina.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Roselawn Cemetery with the Reverend Justin McAlpin officiating. Reynolds Funeral Home is assisting the family. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude’s, American Cancer Society, or the American Diabetes Association.
