Funeral Service for Mr. John Robinson,68, of Decatur, AL will be noon Friday at St. Stephens P.B. Church with the Reverend Christopher Collins Officiating. Inhumation will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Mr. Robinson will lie in repose one hour prior to service.
Public viewing will be Thursday from 10:00AM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
JOHN ANDREW ROBINSON was the epitome of kindness, humility, and devotion to family. A hardworking and industrious man, he found joy in cooking, spending time outdoors, and caring for those he loved. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and dedication to family will always be remembered.
John was born in Decatur, Alabama, on September 25, 1957, the baby of the family, he was lovingly welcomed by his parents, the late Andrew “BeBe” Jefferson and Jessie M. Robinson. He took his rest from this earthly home on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
He accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior early in life at St. Stephens Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Elder Eugene Lewis. He loved the church and served as church custodian, Chairman of the Usher Board, Chairman of Trustee Board, handy man, and in the male chorus.
A lifelong resident of Decatur, Alabama, John attended Decatur City schools and graduated from Decatur High School in 1976. He was employed by Decatur Parks and Recreation, retiring after thirty-three years as supervisor. After retirement, he sought employment at Wayne Farms LLC, where he worked faithfully for more than ten years until his health began to decline. He was a member of the George W. Braxdall Masonic Lodge #28.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Andrew Jeff erson and mother Jessie M. Robinson, siblings, Ronald Phillips and Julia Robinson; and grandparents, Alex and Omelia Rucker.
John lived a full life, and loved ones will always remember his smile, helpfulness, and wit. Cherishing his memory are sons, Shavar Robinson and Andrew Malcom Robinson, both of Decatur, Alabama; sisters, Sadie Robinson-Burdine of Sacramento, California, and Linda Sales-Ellison of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Herman Robinson of Decatur, Alabama; seven nieces: Ronika,Jennifer, Mailla, Amara, Temppest, Tasha, and Keosha: five nephews, Michael, Joshua, Elijah, Andre, and Martel, great-nephew; Tajon Jr, god daughters; Chandra, Cheneta and April, god-grandchildren: Jayde, Jayden, Michael and Demria, a dear and devoted friend, Brenda Fryer of Decatur and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
