Graveside Service for Mr. John Edward Toney, 74 of Decatur, AL will be 11:00 am Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Sterrs Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
John Edward Toney was born November 28, 1945 to Carrie B. Toney, he was raised by his grandparents, Eva and Alex Toney in Decatur, Alabama. He departed this life on July 2, 2020 at the Sanctuary at the Woodlands in Cullman, AL.
John attended local schools and professed hope in Christ at an early age and joined St. James C. P. Church. John loved God and the church. He didn’t like to miss church. He loved getting up and dressing up to go to church.
John loved having a job because he liked to have money. He walked and walked until he couldn’t.
He was married to Connie Jean Thompson Toney . He loved and cared for her. She preceded him in death by three days. He went on to join her in eternity.
He leaves to mourn his death: a son, Don D. Byrd of Decatur; his beloved special sister, Mary Toney Gray (Leo) of Decatur, sister, Josie Campbell (Charles) of Memphis, TN; special nieces and nephews. Cedric Toney, Fatina Turner, Marlo Gray, Alexis Gray, Candace Gray, Khmesha Gray, all of Decatur,and Karen Langham of Irvin, TX; special first cousins: Leonard Robinson (Ann) of Brentwood, TN, the Rev James O. Robinson (Debra) of Madison, AL, Madeline Robinson and Lisa Russell (Larry) of Decatur, Don Ezell and Renae Ezell of Louisville, KY; a special aunt, that he called auntie, Bessie Ezell of Louisville, KY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
