Johnnie Mae (Mason) Roper

Funeral Service for Mrs. Johnie Mason Roper 77 of Decatur, AL will be noon Thursday at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer with Rev. Willie Pickett officiating. Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Johnnie Mae Mason Roper was born July 23, 1947, to John Wesley and Tillie Mae Bibb Mason at Lawrence County Hospital in Moulton, AL. She was called to rest March 11, 2025.
 
Johnnie Mae accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and baptized at an early age. She continued to follow Christ throughout her life. Later, she joined Be Blessed Church of Grace located in Hartselle, AL under the leadership of Bishop Willie Pickett, where she was named “Mother Roper”.

Johnnie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Tillie Mae Mason; Husband, Tommie L. Roper; Children, Sandra and Anthony Bright; Sister, Sarah Fletcher; Brothers, James, Charlie and Billy Joe Mason.

She leaves to cherish her: Daughter, Angela Bright and God daughter Andrea Wesley; 9 Step-Children, Philnetria (Kenneth) Fountian, Lillian Cockrell, Veronica (Rhynia) Pendleton, Reginald Timmons, Alex Roper, Greta (Jimmie) Garrison, Angelina Floyd and Gary Roper; Brothers, John Mason, Decatur, AL and Leroy Mason, Moulton, AL ; Sister-in-law, Barbara Mason, a dedicated niece, Evone Emerson, Decatur, AL; 9 Grandchildren, Thomas (Latoya) Bright, K. Lashaye Bright, Stanley (Latesha) Bright, Tanisha Kelly, Ashley Nance, Malik (Jameka) Bright, Dakeisha, Jayla and Anthony Bright Jr.; 14 Great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
