Graveside Service for Johnny Steele,66, of Decatur, Al will be 1:30PM Sunday at Sterrs Cemetery with the Reverend Malik Fennell officiating.  There will be no public viewing.

Johnny Wayne Steele was born on November 19, 1959, in Decatur, Alabama, to the late C.L. and Dorothy Stover Steele. He transitioned on January 1, 2026 at his residence in Decatur, Alabama.

He was educated in the Decatur City School System before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. After completing his Military service, Johnny returned home to Decatur, where he continued building a life rooted in family, faith, and community.

At an early age, Johnny accepted Christ and joined First Missionary Baptist Church. In later years, he also associated with The Kingdom Hall in Decatur, Alabama.

Johnny was a lover of basketball and a natural athlete. He enjoyed spending time at the gym, staying active, and challenging himself physically. Beyond his athleticism, he was known for his sweet personality, warm spirit, and unforgettable sense of humor. His laughter could brighten a room, and his gentle nature made him easy to love. Johnny was cherished by many, and his absence will be deeply felt. He worked faithfully as a CDL truck driver for Reed Contracting for several years.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, C.L. Steele and Dorothy Stover Steele; his grandparents, Tom and Annie Mae Coffey Stover; and Saul and Rose Lee Steele.

He leaves to cherish his memory four sons: Dartanyan Fennell,  Brandon Fennell, Marques (Marketa) Fennell all of Decatur, AL and Joakim Steele of Madison, AL; two daughters, Emily Fennell of Decatur, AL, and Tierra Latoya Steele of Hartselle, AL; 18 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
