Joyce Cooper

Graveside Service for Ms. Joyce Cooper 80 of League City, TX and formerly of Landersville, Alabama in Lawrence County will be noon Monday, February 27, 2023 at Midway Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Edward Franklin officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. Public viewing will be Sunday from 1:00PM until 4:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Joyce Ophelia Cooper was born on October 30, 1942 in Landersville, Alabama (Lawrence County) to the late Lorenzo and Mattie McGahee Cooper. She departed this life on Sunday, February 19, 2023 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Joyce was a graduate of Moulton High School. She was a member of the UAW-GM Women's Committee and worked at General Motors for 19 years and retired in 2002. She liked being on UAW women's committee and spending time with her grandchildren.

She loved going shopping with Sherrie making it out of a day trip. She liked going to the casino and scratching lottery tickets.

She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Town Creek No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents:Lorenzo and Mattie Cooper; her brother, Benjamin Cooper; three sisters, Sarah Nell Cooper, Ruby Jones and Bertha Cooper..

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Nekesa Echols (Oscar) of League City, Tx; one son, Rongie Cooper (Carolyn) of Town Creek, Al; one sister Christine Stephenson of Chicago, Il; one brother, Clarence Ray of Citrus Heights, Ca; one sister-in-law, Wille Pearl Cooper of Sheffield, Al; grandchildren, Lisa Hood of Town Creek, Al; LaRon Cooper of Mt. Hope, Al; Raven Cooper of Mt. Hope, Al; Maghen Moody of Madison, Al; Malcolm, Teresa Echols of Madison, Al and Kayla Echols of Madison, Al; great grandchildren, Tylon Garner, Jayda Jackson, and Cassius Billings all of Muscle Shoals, Al; two dedicated friends, Sherrie Watson and Rose Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
