Karirina Alelexia Walkeker was born April 5, 1957, in Decatur, Alabama, to Georgia Rogers and the late Charles Rogers.
Karina was a graduate of Austin High School, Class of 1975. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. After graduation, she worked as the plant nurse for Fruehauf Cooperation Plant in Decatur for many years. She eventually obtained employment as a Registered Nurse at Decatur General Hospital, where she remained until her health began to fail; she eventually retired as a Nurse Case Manager.
Karina married Calvin L. Walker of Hillsboro in 1976; to this union, two sons were born, Calvin Lamon Walker, Jr. and Corey Lorenzo Walker. Calvin and Karina had an unbreakable bond and worked as a dynamic team to raise their sons.
Karina confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until she and her family united with Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. While at Canaan, Karina sang in the choir and participated in the Women’s Ministry. She was active in the Women’s Issues classes and enjoyed the ministry. During this time, Karina accepted her call to the ministry. She not only preached the word of God, but her daily walk reflected her love for Jesus. Karina moved her membership to Lifeline Church Decatur to be with her son and his family. She was a faithful member who loved her church family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Karina appreciated life to the fullest. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, baking, and cooking. She was a dedicated wife, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend who loved hard with kindness and compassion. She was the greatest mother to her sons and daughter-in-love. No matter how busy she was, she was never too busy to shower her family with love and support. Her greatest joy was her grandboys, Connor (her Sugar Lump) and Carson (her Sweetie Pie). They were her pride and joy and she made sure the world knew it. She enjoyed every phase of their lives, supporting them in their church and school activities; she was their biggest cheerleader at their games.
While the family was making plans for her earthly home, God called Karina to her eternal home. She finished her course in life on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Madison Hospital, surrounded by her family. She fought an awesome fight; it was “the best main event” witnessed.
Karina was preceded in death by her father, Charles Rogers; son, Calvin Lamon Walker, Jr.; nephew, Cameron Cullen; and uncle, Mace Neal, Jr.
