Katie Mae (Brooks) Horton Sails

Graveside Celebration of Life for Mrs. Katie Mae Brooks Horton Sails, 87 of Yonkers, NY and formerly of Decatur, AL. will be noon Monday, July 26, 2021 at Calvary Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Ronnie Powell officiating, Public viewing will be Sunday from 12:00 pm till  4:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home. Mrs. Sails passed away in Yonkers, NY on Tuesday, July 12, 2021.

Katie Mae Brooks Sails was born on July 28, 1933 to the late John W. Strain and Alberta Brooks Swopes. She departed this life on July 12, 2021 in Yonkers, NY. She was baptized at an early age and currently belonged to Westside Missionary Baptist Church until her passing.

She was a retiree of Wayne Farms and she loved the Lord. Whenever you called her phone, she always answered by saying “Praise the Lord”. She loved gospel music especially, Lee Williams. She absolutely loved flowers and working in the yard. She loved her family.

She was preceded in death by: her husbands, Posey Horton, Jr. and Eugene Sails; her parents, and two children, Billy Joe Horton and Gladys Horton Watkins; two sons-in-law, Lewis McDaniel and David Holyfield, Jr.; sisters, Barbara Ann Swopes and Bessie Mae Robinson; brothers, Leon Garth, Samuel Fletcher, Wash Swopes, Jr., Willie Lewis Swopes and Frank Swopes.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Posey Horton, III (Carmen Ann); daughters, Susie Lee Gholston, Avis Horton, Geraldine McDaniel, Shelia Holyfield; two sisters-in-law, Katie Lee Swopes and Willie Ella Swopes; a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
