Reynolds Funeral Home announces with deepest sympathy the passing of Ms. Katie F. Owens, 77 of Hillsboro, Alabama. Graveside Service will be 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Owens Cemetery with the Reverend Fred Jefferson officiating. Public viewing will be Saturday from 11-4 at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Katie Frances Owens was born February 18, 1943 in Lawrence County, Alabama, to the late Cleora Owens and the late Henry Strong. She was the only child of Ms. Cleora Owens. She exchanged her earthly wings for Heavenly wings and took flight to live with the Lord on October 27, 2020 at Decatur Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mount Olive P.B. Church. She was a dedicated servant. She served faithfully as an usher for approximately 30 years, until her health began to fail.
“For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a Doorkeeper in the house of my God, than dwell in the tents of wickedness”. Psalm 84:10
Katie retired from Leon Sheffield Elementary School for over 25 years. She was well loved by everyone. Katie loved children and would help them whenever they needed school supplies. God blessed her with a nourishing heart.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Cleora (Luke) Bankston, her stepfather and Henry Strong, father.
She leaves to cherish her memory: an aunt, Louise O. Jones; a dedicated caregiver and cousin, Gloria (Mizel) Boulden; a special friend, Ms. Lena Sharpley; a host of other cousins and friends.
