Funeral Service for Mr. Kenneth “John” Reedus, 62 of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00AM Saturday at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer. Inhumation will follow in Bell Church Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Friday from noon until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Kenneth Reedus Jr was born February 6, 1962 in Decatur, AL to the late Josie Ella Smith and Kenneth Reedus Sr. of Decatur, AL. He was the fifth oldest of fourteen siblings. Along with his twin Ken who passed at birth.
He attended Decatur High School where he graduated. He then attended ASU and transferred to TSU class of 1981. Later he went on to follow in his dad’s steps operating Kenny’s Klassic Kutz where he was affectionately known as “Reedabear, Bear, Fuzzy, John, Daddy and Dadoo.”
Kenneth was known for his compassionate nature and giving spirit. Kenneth’s personality was like none other aka the “Grill Master”. The community best knew “John” to be sitting on the porch or out by the grill smoking Turkey legs every other Saturday.
Kenneth’s memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends and all those who were honored to have had the privilege of knowing him.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Marilyn Jordan in Decatur, AL on October 28th, 1996 and together they raised four children. Growing up he was a member of Wayman Chapel in Decatur, AL and later converted to Islam under the Nation of Islam. His legacy lives on through 15 grandchildren.
