King Waldo Watkins was born September 16, 1956 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late King Watkins and the late Mary Lou Troupe Watkins. He peacefully entered his heavenly home on March 18, 2023 with his wife by his side at his home in Decatur, Alabama.

Early in life, Waldo accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Shiloh Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky under the leadership of Pastor H.M. Humphrey.

Waldo graduated from Aron's Vocational Technical Trade School in 1975 in Louisville, Kentucky. He had great athletic ability which allowed him to play on the school’s basketball team.

Waldo was full of life, laughter and love. He always had a smile and a friendly personality. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed life to the fullest.

Preceding him in death were: his parents; his aunt, Annie Mary Owens and his uncle, Lenie Swoope, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving devoted wife, Roberta Preston Watkins; a son, Montez Scrivener of Louisville, KY; a daughter, Shanice Watkins of Los Angeles, CA; his first cousins, Eric Tyrone Billings, Vonn Billings and Sharon Carter all of Decatur, AL, James Billings (Angela) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lenie Swoope Jr (Geri) of Los Angeles, CA. and Pat Swopes (Otis) of Town Creek, AL; mother in-law, Carrie Garth; and a host of brothers-in law, sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
