Lakeisha Richards Obituary

Memorial Service for Mrs. Lakeisha Ann Richards, 42 of Madison, Alabama will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Shiloh M.B. Church with the Reverend Dr. Edward Owens officiating.

On January 15, 2023, after a one year battle against colon cancer, LaKeisha passed away peacefully at the family home in Madison, AL. LaKeisha was 42 years old.

LaKeisha was born on March 5, 1980 in New Orleans, LA. She was the third daughter to Loretta McCraney and Joseph Romant Jr.

On June 25, 1995, LaKeisha met Dr. Wayne K. Richards Jr; forming the dual affectionately known as Wayne-Keedy. On September 9, 2000, LaKeisha and Wayne were married in New Orleans, LA and started their life together in Okinawa, Japan. On June 9, 2003, LaKeisha gave birth to their first son, Wayne K. Richards III (Tre). Together they planned and began building a life. In 2006, they relocated to Arizona. On December 29, 2006, they welcomed their second son, William K. Richards. In August 2013, the family relocated to Madison, AL. LaKeisha’s greatest role was that of wife and mother. She had an unwavering, relentless love and devotion to her men; small but mighty she took pride in being their Queen.

While her primary role was always that of wife and mother, LaKeisha had personal goals to achieve and her focus was intentional. LaKeisha was a scholar earning an associate of arts degree in 2004, a bachelor of science in 2005, and a master’s of business administration in 2007. Most recently, LaKeisha was pursuing her doctoral degree in business administration. She was a lifelong learner who sought out new knowledge.

LaKeisha was a loyal sister, daughter and best friend. Sisterhood was at her core. To have her as a sister or best friend meant you had a strong advocate and personal cheerleader. LaKeisha clapped loud in celebration of her tribe, always offering supportive words, guidance and a listening ear. LaKeisha held no punches and voluntarily offered her loved ones unfiltered truth.

LaKeisha Richards was an active member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. LaKeisha was employed by Raytheon Technologies from 2008 until 2023, most recently serving as a Sr. Configurations Manager. In partnership with her husband Dr. Wayne K. Richards Jr., she was co-owner of Rich Gen Enterprises and was the Chief Operating Officer of Rise, Build, Achieve (non-profit).

LaKeisha was preceded in death by Kenneth McCraney (father), Garland Williams Jr. (nephew), Natasha Romant (cousin), Crofean and Edward Mark (maternal grandparents) and Beatrice and Joseph Romant Sr. (paternal grandparents).

LaKeisha is survived by her husband of 23 years Dr. Wayne K. Richards Jr.; sons Wayne K. Richards III and William K. Richards; mother Loretta McCraney; father Joseph Romant Jr.; sisters Kashandra Romant, Shante Rodney, and Jonquil Romant; brothers Jerome, John and Joshua Romant;  mother-in-law Jackie Smith; sisters-in-law Christina da Silva and Mariana Brooks; brothers-in-law Huey Johnson, Alphonse Smith, Marcus Smith, Nicholas Smith, and ChristanSmith; best friend Alma Davis; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
