Graveside service celebrating the life of Mr. Larry “Cocoa” James Williams, Sr., 74 of Decatur, Alabama will be 1:00 PM Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Calvary Memorial Gardens with Bishop Don A. Hurth officiating. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 PM till 6:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams was born on December 2, 1946 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Charlie Lee Williams and Ella Ruth Tucker Williams. He transitioned peacefully at his residence on November 16, 2021.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Moulton Heights M.B. Church. He was a 1966 graduate of Morgan County Training School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine and was honorably discharged in 1969. He also was a retiree of General Motors where he was an operator.

“Cocoa” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends enjoyed hunting and watching football. He loved watching all teams but his favorite teams were the Alabama Crimson Tide and the San Francisco 49ers. He loved to have fun but at the same time, it was his way or the highway. He will be thoroughly missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Williams, Jr.; and siblings, Bobby Ray Cain, Mary Katherine Williams Fletcher and Mitchell Coleman.

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Dorothy Taylor Williams; children, Kimberly Williams, Shantisa Williams all of Decatur and Douglas Williams of Spokane, WA; nine grandchildren, Kimberly, Jamika, Quinton, Shaniqua, Douglas Jr., Valeshia, Landyn, Bellagrace and Bryson; three great grandchildren, Bri’Onna, Julianna and Jiavonna; siblings, Opal J. Williams, Bessie Williams Matthews (Chester), Charlie Howard Williams (Sylvia), Allen Coleman (Brenda) all of Decatur, Linda Williams Haley of Nashville, TN and Bernard Turner of Courtland, AL; God blessed him and his siblings with another mother after the death of his biological mother, Mrs. Dilsie Williams of Decatur;  four aunts, Doris Jones and Dora Tucker of Decatur, Elizabeth Tucker Scott (Al) of Hempstead, NY, Fredda Tucker of Memphis, TN; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Dixon of Columbus, TN, Sandra Coleman and Bonita (Enrico) Pickett both of Decatur; a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends;
