Reynolds Funeral Home announces with deepest sympathy the passing of Mr. Leon M. Johnson, 76 of Decatur, Alabama.
Leon was born on July 1,1944 in Morgan County, Alabama to Johnnie & Annie M. Johnson. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age and at the present time was a member at King's Memorial U.M. Church, Decatur, Alabama. He was 76 years old and transitioned this life on July 25, 2020 from labor to reward.
Leon graduated in 1961 from Lakeside High School. Growing up, one of Leon’s passionate pastimes was playing football. In fact, he was a proud member of the prestigious Decatur Rough Riders, semiprofessional football team. He enjoyed showing team memorabilia and sharing stories from his time as a Rough Rider. The family wishes to thank everyone for the love and support shown to us during this difficult period.
He has left to mourn his passing a beloved Mother, Annie M Johnson, seven siblings, David (Pearl) Johnson, Margaret (Tomy) Chatman, John Johnson, Shirley Burrow, Susan (Michael) Sawyer, Jeffery Johnson & Patricia Johnson, preceding him in transition was Johnnie Johnson Jr. and brother Jimmy Johnson.
He leaves three children: His son Lyndon (Hallie) Johnson of Haymarket, VA., Two daughters Miranda Johnson of Madison, Alabama and Sonia Johnson of Huntsville, Alabama; six grandchildren and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Many of his family and friends fondly referred to him as “Lee Daddy,” one longtime friend, Dana Mosely along with a host of other friends will cherish his memory.
A memorial service for Leon M. Johnson will be planned at a future date and time.
