Leroy “Bro” Pryor Jr. Obituary

Graveside Service for Mr. Leroy James Pryor Jr., 73 of Decatur, Alabama will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Edward Owens officiating. Public viewing will be Friday, 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Mr. Leroy J. Pryor Jr. (Bro), was born in Morgan County, AL on February 14, 1948 to the late Rev. Leroy J.  Pryor, Sr. and the late Lorene Avery Pryor.  He departed this life on March 13, 2021 at his residence in Decatur, Alabama.

He was educated in the Decatur City Schools. He attended Lakeside High School where he played football. He was in the Class of 1966.

He was well-known as ”Bro” to his family and friends. Bro was a very loving person that did not mind helping, doing any kind of work. He joined the Job Corp. His senior year, he worked at Chrysler in Detroit, MI. He later moved back to Decatur, AL. Bro loved to have a good time. He loved working in the yard. He was not interested in driving and loved walking. He was baptized at Shiloh M. B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Leroy Pryor, Sr. and Lorene Avery Pryor; brothers, the Rev. Earl Pryor and Clarence Jackson; sister, Viola Jones; grandparents, Elijah Pryor and Fannie Pryor, Myrtle Avery and Podge Avery.

He leaves to cherish his memory; three sisters, Belinda Shoulders of Decatur, Alfreda Pryor of Chicago, IL and Gwendolyn Ellison of Canton, MI; one sister-in-law, Ida Pryor; one brother-in-law, Carl Ellison; five special nieces, Carshanda, Brenda (Nae), Myestta, Lushundra and Jackie; special nephews, Cedrick and  Quentine Pryor, Ronnie Jones, Duane and Bryant Davis; special friend, Rosalind Jackson and a special working friend. Curtis Fletcher; a host of cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Pallbearers and Flower Bearers will members of the LHS Class of 1966.
