Funeral Service for Lewis McDaniel 65 of Decatur will be noon Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Reverend James Roach officiating. Public viewing will be one hour prior to funeral.
Lewis McDaniel was born in Lawrence County, Alabama on June 18, 1955 to the late John McDaniel Sr. and Zella Beatrice Davis McDaniel. He departed this life on October 15, 2020 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Olive Church. He loved his family and friends
He attended Tennessee Valley School and enlisted in the United States Army in 1977. He served dutifully in the army for 20 years until he retired in 2007.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, siblings, Martha Sue McDaniel Strain and John McDaniel, Jr., and sister-in-law, Gladys Horton and brother-in-law, Billy Joe Horton.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Geraldine Horton McDaniel; six children, Lewis McDaniel, Jr. of Nashville, Jerry Horton, Lakeisha Horton, Samantha Horton, Christy Toney (Wendell) and Angela Horton all of Decatur; 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Flora Jennings of Nashville, TN and Bertha (Ronnie) Coleman of Decatur; mother-in-law, Katie Horton Sales of Decatur: a special nephew, James Roach; special niece, Vickie King; in-laws, Shelia H. Holyfield, Posey Horton III.(Carmen), Avis Horton; two close friends, Johnny Strain and Thad Usry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
