Lillian White Obituary

Graveside services for Mrs. Lillian White, 86, of Decatur, Alabama will 11:00AM Wednesday at Sterrs Cemetery with Rev. Coynis Smith officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Tuesday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. Mrs. White transitioned May 19, 2023 at her residence. 

Lillian Marie Smith White  was born September 25, 1936 in Lawrence County, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Rev. James Smith and Carrie Davis Smith. She departed this life on May 19, 2023 at her residence after a prolonged illness. Lillian confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined fellowship with Pleasant Grove Courtland, AL,  formerly Spring Creek Church. She later moved her membership to Jerusalem P.B. Church, in Courtland, AL.

Lillian graduated from Tennessee Valley High School in 1956. She later moved to Chicago, IL and married the late Atlas White. She worked for many years as a seamstress and prided herself as being able to send money and gifts to her family in Alabama. After the death of her husband she moved back to Alabama and began work at the Skycenter Hotel and ended her career at General Electric.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, husband, Atlas White, son, Cecil “Snake” White,  sister, Ida Mae Madden, brother, Nathaniel “Doc” Smith, nephew, Percy Madden; and special friend, Bessie Sanders.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her children, Elois Garth of Meridianville, AL and David Gregory White of Decatur, AL; sisters, Mary Allen (Frank) of Tuscumbia, AL and Carrie Moore of Decatur, AL; brothers, George Smith and James Smith Jr. (Louise) of Trinity, AL;  grandchildren, Deshaun Smith, Bryan Turner, Antonio Swopes, Emily Wiggins, Jerone White and Jaylin White all of Decatur, AL, Shonika McCreless (Greg) of Meridianville, AL, Conor Obsequey of Ketsch Germany and Justin Bellamy (Chelsey) of Priceville, AL; 17 great grandchildren; a devoted niece, Willinetta “Fannie” Mason of Hillsboro, AL; devoted nephew, Ricky Smith (Janice) of Athens, AL; special friends, Emma Guster; of Decatur, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
